Open Educational Resources (OER)

Adoption Steps

1. Take time to research and select OER course materials like you do for traditional textbooks.

2. Check to see if similar OER textbooks exist.  Open Textbook Library is a great place to start!

3. Keep the learning objectives for your course in mind when selecting a OER textbook. Focus on what you would like students to learn in your class. Instead of focusing on textbook you wish to replace.

4. Perform deep internet searching by utilizing subject specific OER repositories.

5. Streaming videos, e-books, and articles can supplement OER textbooks and provide a variety of different formats.  Visit the library website to find many resources.

6. Ask a Librarian for help!

7. Create and share your own OER resource.
